The Tucson Studio presents Duo Chinoiserie (Jing Xia & Bin Uh), filmed on location at Centennial Hall. Founded in 2016, Duo Chinoiserie is a world-culture-inspired ensemble comprised of a traditional Chinese instrument and a western instrument – the guzheng and guitar. Its repertoire embraces traditions from cultures across Eurasia and displays the interactions and similarities as well as the uniqueness and exoticism of different musical cultures. As its name implies, the communication between east and west promotes an intercultural artistic exchange for a more inclusive world.
The Tucson Studio is thrilled to present The Rifle in Centennial Hall. Originally the bedroom recording project of front woman Nelene DeGuzman, now a powerhouse psychedelic three piece the Rifle manages to be both detailed and roaring at once. Inspired by the extremes of Sonoran Desert and riding successive waves of creativity, The Rifle have released three extraordinary albums, available wherever you stream. We had a wild night of rock and roll in Centennial Hall, and we’re thrilled to finally share the electric energy.

The Tucson Studio presents PD Ronstadt & the Co. featuring Liz Cerepanya, filmed on location at LandMark Sound Recorders. You may know P.D. from multiple musical and producing projects, including Ronstadt Brothers or Peter Dalton Ronstadt & The Co.. And if you’ve heard Big Grin, you know the beautiful voice of Liz Cerepanya. In this performance, they join forces for a collective project featuring original music of the late Alan Garr, new compositions by Ronstadt, and long time favorites. This version of the Company, featuring Bobby Ronstadt on piano and Bryan Matyjasik on drums, offers an opportunity to see some brand new songs in their earliest renditions.

The Tucson Studio presents Hot Club of Tucson, filmed on location at Wooden Tooth Records. For over ten years, Hot Club of Tucson has been a Sunday morning tradition on the patio of Hotel Congress, merging their desert town sensibilities with the essence of the original Quintette du Hot Club de France. With Nick Coventry on fiddle, Matt Mitchell on guitar, and Evan Dain on upright bass, this group will awe you with their musical prowess, all while curating hot-club style jazz for the modern era.

The Tucson Studio presents songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Jillian Besset, performing on the serenely deserted stage of Centennial Hall. Jillian’s current project revolves around loop-based music, creating songs and soundscapes in real time using only her voice. The results are captivating: no two performances are identical, but through it all Jillian’s magnetism is unchanged. Look for her solo debut album, JOY, slated for release spring of 2021.

The Tucson Studio presents Chezale, a one woman supernova of creative expression filmed at the beautiful UArizona Health Science Innovation Building. With deep roots in music, dance, and acting, Chezale has used each medium to convey her inner landscape, as well as grapple with social and cultural issues. In this set, you’ll see that passion in action. Chezale’s music encompasses Hip Hop and R&B, but ultimately provides a unique flow all its own.

Just Najima combines traditional country blues with moody, southwestern soul to create an evocative sound. In this set, filmed on location at Wooden Tooth Records, Just Najima performs both original and traditional songs, weaving in simple vocal loops and rhythmic elements to create what she refers to as “southwestern gothic soul.” Whatever you call it, her powerful vocals will grab your attention and wrap you in dreams of the lonesome desert.
The Pete Swan Trio (Peter Swan, Robbie Lee, and Scott Krystyna Black) meet up at the beautiful LandMark Sound Recorders
The best words to describe this performance and album are Shaun’s:
Welcome Mattea to the Tucson Studio Stage. Mattea (she/her) is a queer black artist based in Tucson who creates what has been described as Sonoran-Soul. She strives to grow a body of work that chips at the tyrannical empire of white supremacy with a word on a wing and a solid grip on the groove. After the performance, Mattea & UA Presents urge you to visit Tucson Reparations
and Black Lives Matter Tucson. Read about, donate to, and engage with these organizations so they can continue their essential activism in our community.

Experience the debut of Carlos Arzate & the Familia, as they sing songs of love, healing, and community in The Tucson Botanical Gardens.
For two decades, Tucson native Carlos Arzate Music has been a standout member of the Arizona music community. His musical style has evolved from “loud, confrontational sound and message” (American Android, Innisfail) to the soulful, Norteno influenced Americana of recent years (Carlos Arzate & the Kind Souls). What you may not know about Carlos is that his family also shares his passion and talent for music.
